This village has been mentioned for the first time in 1266 under the name «Gerlans», in the infeudation Act of Hautes Joux.
The tourists may find different types of accommodation, visit the Comté cheese manufacture, go for trout fishing in the river Doubs, follow introductory courses in fishing, or in cross-country skiing on the “Rivier” piste, go for a walk or for a bike or mountain bike ride.
